Life's Most Important Decision

Have you ever thought much about your relationship with God? Do you know what the Bible reveals about how to be saved? Please take a few moments and consider carefully what God says in His Word about how you can have the assurance of salvation.

The Bible teaches that:
God loves you ...
John 3:16 -- For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believs in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

We all have a problem which separates us from God -- sin.
(Sin means to miss the mark that God has for our lives, to disobey God, to break God's laws, to rebel against God, to go our own way and not God's way.)
Romans 3:23 -- ...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God...

Sin has a result -- death.
(Death means physical death, but it also refers to spiritual death, or eternal separation from God in hell.)
Romans 6:23 -- For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We cannot save ourselves from our sins -- we need a Savior.
Ephesians 2:8-9 -- For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast. (We could never be good enough, or righteous enough, or do enough good works for God to let us into heaven on our own. He is holy and He does not allow sin into heaven. No matter how hard we try, we still fall short -- we are still sinners.)

God loves us even though we have sinned against Him, and He sent Jesus to be our Savior.

*Who Jesus is -- the Son of God
Matthew 3:17 -- God said concerning Jesus, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."

*What Jesus came to do -- to save us
Luke 19:10 -- Jesus said, "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

*What Jesus did -- paid the price for our sins
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 -- ...that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures. (While Jesus was hanging on the cross, God took all our sins and laid them on Jesus. The He caused all His wrath, judgment and punishment on sin to be poured out on His Son until Jesus had paid the full price for our sins. Jesus died for our sins and God raised Him from the dead to show that He had accepted Christ's sacrifice.)

If we want to be saved we must personally and willingly respond to Jesus.

*
We must repent of our sins. (To repent means to have a change of mind about our sins that causes us to turn away from our sins and to turn to Go through Christ.)
Acts 3:19 -- Repent therefore and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord...

*We must believe in the Lord Jesus. (To believe means to trust in Jesus, to rely on Him, and to depend on Him alone for salvation; it also means to commit ourselves to Him, to submit to His authority and to follow Him as Lord.)
Acts 16:31 -- They said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved ...'

*We must receive Jesus by faith into our lives as our Lord and Savior. (To receive Jesus means to welcome Him and accept Him into our lives as Lord and Savior.)
John 1:12 -- But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name...

Would you be willing to turn from your sins and receive Jesus now by inviting Him to come into your life and be your Lord and Savior?
Romans 10:13 -- ... for whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved.

Prayer: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus is Your Son, that He died for my sins and was raised from the dead so that I might be forgiven and have eternal life. I turn from my sins and I turn to Jesus. Oh Jesus, please come into my heart and life and be my Lord and Savior. Please help me to live for You, and one day take me home to heaven. In Jesus Name, Amen.
